Jolana Star V

Futurama/Star family:

Resonet Gracioso (Futurama)
1959-62 Star III (Futurama III)
Star
post-1963 Star III (Futurama III)
Jolana Star VII

Star V was introduced in 1963 and it was actually an "upgrade" of Star two-pickup model. It was fitted with "Brilliant deluxe" pickups, and the maple neck featured a "rosewood" fingerboard made of stained beech. The additional new feature was a rotary pickup selector located next to the neck pickup. The export version of this guitar was still called Futurama III.

Regarding the way Jolana made bolt-on and glued neck's...
See pictures with a Star bolted and glued neck: the similarity with the Futurama on Futurama Story site. It also seems that all Stars (I ...VII) had a plastic cover over the tuners.

Guitar's owners report a significant drop in the quality relatively to previous models. The guitar felt and played different from "good old" Futuramas and Stars. The change was so dramatic that pretty soon the Selmer company, which imported the guitars to Great Britain, switched to Swedish Hagstrom - and starting from 1964 Futuramas were made at Hagstrom. Jolana carried on with its' Stars, and a couple of aditional "upgraded" models were made during the 60's.
